I just had to describe my encounter with him for you.
In a long time was I so excited, frantically exchanging thoughts, electronically, with people about how eager I was to meet him tonight. An evening nap and warm coffee ensured that I stay up late into the night, yet be at my refreshed best when I meet him.
I had A & S for company. It was going to be a big moment. There I lay on a remote high rooftop on a moonless night, my usual everyday world lying far down below me. I waited and waited for him to arrive, amongst talks with A & S, a few birds chirping and the whispering sound of silence.
My neck was strained, yet I did not give up. I knew it had to be tonight. He must have sensed it as he appeared out of nowhere, dressed in a royal blue or so, I thought. It was the first time I ever saw him. I was consumed by his dazzle and agility. He was the most splendid and sparkling creation I'd ever seen. Better than what I'd expected.
Just looking at him had made my night. I gazed with bated breath. There was an air of anticipation. He then stopped. Was I going to be just another girl smitten by his splendor?
I wanted to ask him to wait, after all he was so handsome! I wanted to admire him more and more. I did not want to let go of him. I wanted to tell him how wonderful he looked tonight. But I seemed helpless at the moment. The feeling of awe and surrealism transformed into profound happiness slowly.
Then he just continued on his trail and disappeared before I could recover my senses. I had so many questions which were unanswered - about when and how I would meet him next. But even before I struck a conversation with him, all I had was a starry sky above me devoid of him.
The shortest conversation ever without words being exchanged, its afterglow to linger forever. Such was my first encounter with Leonid, on a meteor shower night, etched in memory.
